Airport emergency
PA Auckland Emergency services at Auckland Airport were placed on alert yesterday afternoon after the pilot of a Singapore Airlines 747 reported a possible mechanical fault The plane, with about 390 passengers on board,
landed safely just after noon. No-one was injured. The plane’s pilot had earlier told air traffic controllers he believed the left body gear of the jet was misaligned — a fault which might have caused wheels to rip off on landing, said an airport spokesman.
