Spirit of N.Z. further delayed
PA Blenheim Repairs to the Spirit of New Zealand’s propeller have uncovered further problems and will delay the ship in Picton at least until the weekend. The ship has been in Picton for a week already because of mechanical problems. Captain Peter Petherbridge said trainees due to start a new course today would be brought to Blenheim where they would stay at the Marlborough College boarding hostel. A programme would be arranged for them.
The delay created by the ship’s engine problems meant two open days were held in the weekend. More than 1100 people came on board,
Captain Petherbridge said. A day’s sail to provide an opportunity for adults to' spend a day on the boat has been arranged for March 29 and about 50 people had expressed interest in taking part at $lOO each.
