Moves on ’copter safety
NZPA London Britain has announced a £1.6 million ($4,384 million) research scheme aimed at improving helicopter safety after the accident in which 45 people were killed. The Civil Aviation Authority chairman, Mr Christopher Tugendhat, said the’ money, from the Government and the helicopter industry, would be spent over three years. He told a meeting of aviation manufacturers and traders the research would cover four main areas: the monitoring of safety components in helicopters, flight-data recording the human factor in accidents and the stability of ditched helicopters.
