Accident-details analyser

A microcomputer software package for recording and analysing accidents and injuries is the first for its purpose which is “bespoke,” according to its developers. The Microsafe safety management system has been launched by Bowring Protection Consultants in Britain. The firm is involved in assessing a wide range of risks in an equally wide range of organisations.

According to BPC’s chairman, Mr Ken Bullock, safety professionals have difficulty in finding sufficient time to record and analyse incidents in the detail necessary to draw conclusions with any meaning.

Microsafe has been created to overcome this

problem. BPC say it can be used by people without any computer experience and can be applied to suit any particular requirement. Microsafe is said to be a “friendly” system designed to store data on all kinds of incidents, analyse the information in a variety of ways and display the results as tables or graphics. It can summarise records to identify patterns, search for items where it is believed a problem area may exist and can be used to keep records of accidents which legislation says must be reported. Microsafe is a modular package which can be used on IBM, Wang or other IBM-compatible systems.
