Bank of N.Z. must douse KZ7 lights
PA Wellington Wellington city planners Have told the Bank of New Zealand to remove a flashing KZ7 display from the sides of the bank building — the country’s tallest — but not for a month. The twinkling lights on the building began life before Christmas as a star or snowflake, and afterward were rearranged to read KZ7. The bank is the America’s Cup yacht’s principal sponsor, but has drawn complaints because the flashing sign is visible from most of Wellington and contravenes city bylaws. In his own dazzling display of diplomacy, the city planner, Mr Ken Clarke, has ordered the s bank to remove the sign within a month — by which time the yachting contest should have ended.
