Rifle shots lead to police inquiry
A report of a rifle being fired led the police to cordon off a block of Worcester Street last evening. A person told the police of hearing three rifle shots just before 10 p.m.
About half a dozen people rang up about the same shot about .10 minutes afterwards.
The police and traffic officers stopped traffic and pedestrians using the block between Latimer Square and Barbadoes Street
The police heard no more shooting, and spent more than an hour trying to find thfe source of the noise.
The armed offenders squad was not called out
The report came as de-
tectives investigated a Sunday morning shooting incident in Lancaster Street.
Two shots were fired from a shotgun, hitting a house, about 12.30 a.m. or 1 am. The house was occupied, but no-one was hurt, a detective said.
