School plans 125th jubilee
Mr William Hinton (left) and his son Geoffrey, stand beside their 1007 traction engine which they are restoring for display at the Templeton Primary School and District’s 125th Jubilee. Celebrations planned for the Jubilee, to be held during the first week-end in April, include a ball and a church service. Photographs and other items that are reminders of Templeton’s past, would be welcomed by the organising committee. - .
Early pioneers began settling in the district 125 years ago, and Templeton Primary School was opened in 1864. Mr Hinton attended the school from 1914 to 1918, and still lives in the district He remembers it as a flourishing community then, with its own flourmill, and much larger farms.
