Guest dragged under a car
PA Gisborne A 26-year-old man is seriously ill in Gisborne Hospital after being dragged under a car for 158 m in an incident;which started at a twenty-first birthday party, according to the Gisborne police, y Two men will appear In the District Court at Gisborne today charged with attempted murder, said Senior-Sergeant Alan Davidson. The police were continuing their investigations and following “several positive lines of inquiry” to find other people Involved. The injured man Is Mr Dennis Robert Irwin, of Gisborne. He had surgery yesterday morning and his condition was reported to be serious but stable.' Senior-Sergeant Davidson said that about 2 a.m. on Sunday there was a fight at a. twenty-first birthday party in the Childers Road-Derby Street area. A car leaving . at speed hit Mr Irwin, a 1 guest at the party. and dragged him 158 m, i The car had since been found and was being held for forensic tests. w The police cordoned about 200 m of a street from about 4 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., to conduct patient searches and about 20 C. 1.8. and uniformed police from outside Gisborne were brought in to help with the investigation.
