Some Bird ready to fly at Omakau today

Special correspondent Dunedin Some Bird should come into her own in the McLaren Transport Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Vincent Jockey Club’s meeting at Omakau today. Some Bird came from back in the field for second to Million Joys on the first day. Million Joys is not in the field this time nor is the third placegetter on the first day of the meeting, Connie Lawn.

Some Bird was also runner-up to Million Joys in the Wyndham Cup on January 1. Donnie’s Chance shaped like an improver when fourth on the first day. He trailed the pacemaker but had to be restrained off the heels of Connie Lawn on the home turn. Been Burgled and Sereb are fresh runners with prospects. . Been Burgled finished sixth in the Invercargill Cup and beat Some Bird by a nose at his previous start when in receipt of

3kg. Sereb was runner-up to White Lip on the first day of the Southland meeting. Morrie Man is in line to complete a double for the meeting in the DB Draught Handicap. Reutemann is a newcomer with sound prospects. He set the pace for a fast 1400 m when third to Knight Invader and Morrie Man at Ascot Park last week. He won his two previous starts, both at 1400 m, and will claim 2.5 kg.
