Squash success
Paul Viggers overcame his Canterbury representative team-mate, Robbie Burnett, in straight games in the final of the Cave Rock Hotel New Year squash tournament at the Sumner club courts yesterday. Last year’s champion, Barrie Matthews, was eliminated by Burnett in the semi-finals. The women’s title was won by Judith Casbolt in a five-game final. Results:—
Men’s open.— Semi-finals: P. Viggers beat N. Lloyd, 9-1, 5-9, 9-1, 9-4; R. Burnett beat B. Matthews (Palmerston North), 9-5, 9-1, 6-9, 9-5. Final: Viggers beat Burnett, 9-3, 9-6, 9-3.
