Colourful blooms at lily show
Colourful lily blooms from vivid pinks and oranges to the traditional Christmas white will be on display at the Canterbury Horticultural Hall this week-end, during the New Zealand Lily Society Show. A fine artist’s brush was being applied to some exhibits yesterday — to remove that "untidy” before the judges saw it, said one exhibitor.
The vice-president of the society, Mr Bill Brown, of Christchurch, said he expected the standard of blooms to be good this year. The season was early, but many blooms had been successfully kept in cool storage since before Christmas, said Mr Brown. The show will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow.
