Fire risk in Nelson
PA Nelson Dry winds, warm temperatures and low humidity levels are increasing the fire risk throughout the Nelson region. After 17 days without rain, the Waimea County Council is imposing fire restrictions throughout the county area. A spokesman for the Forest Service, Mr Red Costley, yesterday warned of a “steadily climbing” fire risk and urged the public to take precautions against fire.
