The creation of this Chair emphasises the growing importance of Information Engineering to modem concepts of industrial manufacturing and high technology product generation. Applicants must have appropriate qualifications in engineering or technology. Research interests and experience in information generation, transmission, processing or utilisation will be important. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN THE REHABILITATION OF THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND BLIND Applications are invited for this new position in the Department of Psychology. The contract appointment is for at least three and up to five years in the first instance, funded by the Royal New Zealand Ffoundation for the Blind. It is likely that the position will continue beyond the initial funding period. The appointee will be working within the Department’s programmes in rehabilitation and providing leadership in the development of effective rehabilitiation training and programming in the area of visual impairment and blindness. An essential component is Orientation and Mobility Training to instructors of the blind and visually impaired. The appointee will also be required to offer courses covering one or more of the following: communications problems, theoretical and practical aspects of rehabilitation of the blind and visually Impaired. Some teaching will be carried out extramurally (by correspondence); experience in this area woulld be an advantage. Applicants should possess as a minimum qualification a good honours degree, experience in rehabilitation, and in working with persons who are blind or visually impaired.
