Wheat marketing
Sir,—Mr Roger Keenan, chairman of the N.Z. Flour Millers’ Association, and thus, I consider, representing a thoroughly pampered, protected and, consequently, inefficient industry, has advice to offer to Farmlands Grain on wheat marketing (January 2). Observing
the admirable record that the latter organisation (until recently the South Island Barley Society) has built up over recent years, without any protection, in the area of both local and international grain marketing, this seems somewhat like an official of the Department of Maori Affairs offering advice to Ron Brierley on how to raise overseas finance for his next take-over bid.—Yours, etc., R. I. C. MACKENZIE. Ashburton, January 5, 1987.
