McEnroe pulls out
NZPA-AAP Melbourne A back injury has forced John McEnroe out of the $2.5 million Ford Australian Open tennis championships, starting at Kooyong on Monday. His father, John McEnroe, sen., advised the Association of Tennis Professionals’ office in Dallas, Texas, that his son had aggravated a back injury while practising on grass in Palm Springs in preparation for the Open.. The A.T.P. advised the Open tournament director, Colin Stubs, of McEnroe’s injury yesterday morning.
