Hayden Bromac and Bionic Chance quinella likely today

The West Melton trainer, lan Shinn, looks to have a great chance of winning the National Mutual Finance Champion Stakes with Hayden Bromac at the Ashburton Club’s summer meeting today. Peter Jones is making a special trip back from Auckland to continue his association with the talented son of El Patron, one which has resulted in four wins and a sixth from five attempts. After training off in October, Hayden Bromac came back to win in style at Orari.on November 29. This will probably be the strongest field of South Island three-year-olds he has met, but this should not stop him carrying on his winning way.

Possibly the biggest stumbling block to success for Hayden Bromac will be Bionic Chance, which will be having her first start since June when she paced a remarkable race for third to Race Ruler in the Juvenile Championship at Alexandra Park.

Bionic Chance, a filly with impeccable breeding; proved herself one of the best of her sex ever seen at two and if she has made the natural improvement expected she should be a top classic contender this summer and autumn. She has a second-line draw, but that should not stop her running Hayden Bromac to a close decision.

Another Mid-Canterbury-trained pacer in Rostriever Hanover will be a popular fancy. He is unbeaten in his last three starts arid looks to have a particularly bright future. He has drawn well at No. 2 and should be right in the thick of the finish.

The southerner, Spangled Chance, had to bow to a speedy young pacer in Emcee at Invercargill last Saturday when the latter broke a track record. He has looked not far below the best of his age and could well take beating.

Le Marais, Alvarez and Ankorman also look promising, but it is hard to imagine them beating Hayden Bromac or Bionic Chance.
