Davison likely to improve link with Kerr stable

By

J. J. BOYLE

The leading jockey, Grant Davison, has bright prospects of improving a profitable . partnership with the Kerr stable of Riccarton at Wingatui on Friday and at the Timaru meeting on Saturday. He will ride the promising two-year-old Princess Perfection for the stable in the Otago Racing Club’s Champagne Stakes and Canterbury Belle in the weight-for-age Timaru Cup on Saturday.

Davison’s mount for the Show Gate Stakes, the Timaru club’s other feature race, will be Ysatis, a winner in his .hands for the Paddy Busuttin stable at Riccarton on December 12. Ysatis sprinted attractively in training at Riccarton yesterday. She returned 1:16.4 for 1200 on the plough, running her last 800 alongside

Shamano in 49.8, and the final 600 in- 36.6.

Advocate, another Davison mount at the Timaru meeting, outran Palikari over 600 m, finishing three lengths clear in 36. The Murfitt pair, Dainty Dish and Peach Melba, followed in 38. Chris Johnson will ride them both in their Timaru engagements. Mr Magoo led Pavlova’s Beau by two lengths finishing 600 in 37. Baby Brown and Eastward Bound followed in 39. Serene Pulse and Classic Equity eased into 800 m steadily, then quickened for the final 600 in 37.8

Aegean Princess, one of Serene Pulse’s rivals in the Park Hill Breeders’ Handicap at the Timaru meeting, got through her 1400 in 1:31. With assistance from Picca Lord, she came through the last

600 in 37.2. Perazzi reeled off the last 600 of' 800 in 35.8 — an effort suggesting he has thrived on recent racing from the Kevin Miller stable.

Rakau Tiffany and Quiet Riot took 52 for their 800 and 38.6 for the final 600. Tane Matthews will ride Rakau Tiffany in the Show Gate Stakes on Saturday. Blazing Bernie and Camallino Star returned 50.6 for 800.

Star Hope, a form runner for the Hanley’s Sprint at Timaru, dashed in from the 600 in 36.4 Temuka Princess, one of few tried on the No. 1 grass, sped in from the 600 in 35.

Nothing like the same urgency was taken with Secured Money, which completed his 800 in 52.2
