Joint venture cleared
PA Wellington The Commerce Commission gave clearance yesterday to a proposed New Zealand Railways Corporation joint venture with Freightways Group. Shares in the joint venture, which will run linehaul transport business, are 40 per cent Railways
and 60 per cent Freight-
ways. The commission chairman, Mr John Collinge, said the proposal passed the competition test in that it would not create or strengthen a dominant position in the New Zealand line-haul transport market.
