Sri Lankan prisoners swapped
NZPA-Reuter Colombo The Government and rebels swapped prisoners for the first time in Sri Lanka’s three-year-old rebellion for a separate Tamil state, military officials said yesterday. Two soldiers held by guerrillas in the northern city of Jaffna since October were exchanged for two rebels detained by security forces. Officials also said seven people, including three airmen, died in a rebel ambush in Trincomalee district.
