Ride for blind ending
Two nurses will today reach Christchurch at the end of a sponsored bicycle ride from Auckland, made to raise money to buy two tandems for blind children at Homai College. “Tandems are fantastic. They let blind people enjoy all the pleasures of cycling which ,we sighted people take for granted,” said Miss Joanne Sutherland and Miss Winnie Lenihan, in a statement. Miss Sutherland has a special interest in Homai College in Auckland, which is New Zealand’s national school for visually impaired children. Her sister, Veronica, aged 12, is a pupil there.
