$300,000 Auckland Cup
The Auckland Trotting Cup, to be run on January 30, will remain the richest horse race in New Zealand, until March. New sponsorship has lifted the 1987 stake to
$300,000 which is up on the 1986 prize of $250,000.
The last New Zealand Cup was worth $275,000 while the Inter-Dominion Final at Addington in March next year will be $350,000.
This season’s Auckland Cup is being sponsored by Harness World Bloodstock, a company which hit the headlines earlier this week when it offered $1 million for top pacer Master Mood.
