He reveals how they took a gamble sailing deep into the southern Pacific on the leg from Auckland to Mar del Plata in search of steady winds that would carry them ahead of the rest of the fleet. But the winds did not blow and the frustrations of crew expanded. Blake traces the race
sponsors such as Lion Breweries, Healing Industries, Chase Corporation and Fay Richwhite, it is hard to believe they struggled for finance like Enterprise did. He accuses the media of ignoring equipment and crew problems on Enterprise. The book is liberally illustrated and all photographs are in colour. There is one especially breathtaking picture of an iceberg in the south Pacific Ocean. K.R.T.
