Christmas spirit

Sir, —It is sickening to find one can even be done when purchasing a thing like a Christmas tree. For two or three years now we have been buying a tree through a little plantation of trees specially grown for Christmas. The standard procedure is to put your name tag on the tree of your choice. On collection, two years in a row, we found no tag and no tree. Apparently people simply remove the tag if they like your tree or, worse, help themselves without paying and drive off. It is a pathetic state of affairs, but typical of today,

when the simplest and most basic pleasure like a Christmas tree is just another target for people’s greed and complete disregard for others. — Yours, etc.,
