Port tonnage shows decline

The total tonnage handled through the port of Lyttelton for the twelve months ending September 30, 1986, was 13 per cent down on the previous year. These figures were released at Wednesday’s meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board in the annual accounts. The largest decrease was in overseas exports. Overseas imports and coastal imports and exports also showed drops in tonnage. The largest drops were at the dry bulk export facility and the Union Company-oper-ated sea cargo terminal. The total container tonnage was up, however, and the container terminal had a record tonnage. ARRIVALS Spirit of Competition (7 a.m.), 1600, Wgtn (Pacifica). Dolomit (9 a.m.) 2100, sea (Scales).
