The position involves the administration of the Board’s pumping stations, trunk sewers and Milliscreen Treatment Plant. Equipment operated includes large pumps and electric motors (some variable speed) and numerous microprocessor-based control and alarm systems. In the near future it is proposed to purchase and implement a computerised preventative maintenance system and also to replace the Board’s telemetry system. The appointee will be responsible for the Board’s maintenance and operations staff and will report directly to the Chief Engineer. The successful applicant will ideally be a Registered Engineer with a recognised degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. He will possess leadership qualities, be able to motivate staff and have experience in inustrial relations. A good knowledge of current financial and EDP procedures would be an advantage.
