Television coverage of InterDominions

PA Auckland Television New Zealand plans to provide nine hours’ coverage of the Inter-Dominion Championships at Addington next year. The four-night series, sponsored by Lion Brown, will be held on February 28 and March 4, 7 and 14. Mr Barry Johnson, the promotions officer for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, yesterday confirmed the coverage after discussions this week with representatives of TVNZ.

Mr Johnson said there was a good chance that the $350,000 Lion Brown Inter-Dominion Pacing Final, on Saturday, March 14, would also be televised throughout Australia.

On each of the three Saturdays events will be telecast between 8 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. On the second night of the carnival, a Wednesday, coverage will be from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Interest in the carnival had extended to North America, said Mr Johnson. “We have received enquiries from many parts of Australia and New Zealand and some from Canada and America.” Mr Johnson said the cost of a reserved seat for the four nights was $l2O. He said the Metropolitan club was continuing to make improvements at Addington in preparation for the series.
