NZPA Wellington The Mobile Peace Van Society is the recipient of the $2OOO New Zealand; International Year of Peace Award. The Deputy Minister of . Foreign ’ Affairs, Mr O’Flynn, who chairs the officials committee for the United Nations International Year of Peace, said the Peace Van had
toured extensively throughout New Zealand since 1984 visiting-schools, and community groups. The society offered a teaching programme which developed the theme of peace, disarmament and conflict resolution through lessons on subjects ranging from social studies and music to science and maths, he said. - -
