German general on visit
The Chief of Staff of the West German Air Force, Lieutenant-Gen-eral Eberhard Eimler, was met by a 50-man guard of honour when he arrived at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base, Wigram this week.
General Eimler’s is part of a six-day goodwill visit to New Zealand. The visit was designed to familiarise him with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and New Zealand generally.
General Eimler inspected pilot and navigator training facilities at Wigram and visited a Rakaia farm. General Eimler, who is 56, joined the West German Air Force in 1956, and has been Chief of Staff since 1983.
