Wool prices move in sellers’ favour
PA Wellington Prices at yesterday’s Wellington wool sale generally moved in sellers’ favour compared with last Friday’s Napier sale, the official report says. The market indicator rose from 540 to 545 clean, and from 402 to 405 greasy. However, awasp indicators fell from 552.56 c to 545.24 c clean and 410.88 c to 405.44 c greasy.
Principal buyers were Eastern Europe, New Zealand merchant scourers, China, and New Zealand carpet mills, and a strong buying tone was reported throughout the range, particularly for fleece, second-shear and lambs’ wool.
Wool Board activity was slightly down on Napier the board bidding on/i966 bales, or 8.9 per ceis, of
the 26,586 bales on offer yesterday.
The board bought or had passed to it 364 bales, or 1.7 per cent.
Official range of prices: Fine crossbred hogget: 32 micron, 105 to 115 mm: good, 570 to 576, average to good, 560 to 567. 33 micron, 110 to 125 mm: good, 570 to 575, average to good, 559 to 565.
Medium crossbred hogget, 34 micron, 110 to 125 mm: good, 562 to 568, average to good, 558 to 562.
Crossbred fleece: 35 micron, 110 to 125 mm: good, 564 to 571, average to good, 558 to 564, average, 554 to 558. 37 micron 110 to 125 mm: good, 562 to 568, average to good, 558 to 566, average, 556 to 560.
Second-shear fleece: 37 micron 75/100 to 75/125mm: good, 553 to 560, average to good, 550 to 557, average, 546 to 552. 37 micron 50/75 to
50/100mm: average to good, 543 to 548, average, 538 to 544. Crossbred necks 30/32 micron, 75/125mm: average to poor, to 558. Pieces: 33 micron, 75/ 125 mm: poor to average to ooor, 494 to 520. Second-shear bellies and pieces: 35 micron, 50/100 to 75/100mm: average to poor, 455 to 477, poor, 437 to 460. 35 micron, 25/75 to 50/ 75mm: average to poor, 433 to 457, poor, 420 to 440.
Crossbred locks and second pieces: 35 micron 25/75mm: poor to average to poor, 382 to 406.
