Meninga declines
The Kangaroo utility, Mai Meninga, has rejected an offer from St Helens to return to England after the Australian rugby league tour of France.
Meninga, who has agreed to return to St Helens at the end of his 1987 commitments with Canberra, rebuffed St Helens’ efforts to use him before the start of the next Australian tour.
“No, I won’t be going back to England to play with St Helens after the Kangaroo tour,” Meninga said.
Meninga was outstanding for St Helens in the 1984-85 season and the English club bent over backwards during the English section of the tour to lure the Canberra centre back again.
