Palastone completes preparation

Special correspondent Greymouth The Hokitika candidate, Palastone, completed his preparation for the second leg of the T.A.B. double at the Westland Racing Club’s meeting at Hokitika tomorrow with a brilliant gallop over 800 m at Reefton yesterday morning, recording a time of 50.25. The Reefton-owned horse has improved since his Motukarara race three weeks ago and is likely to repeat his win of last year at tomorrow's meeting. Yesterday he was strongly held over the final stages of his gallop. The maiden runner, Old Scroll, also worked over 800 m, completing it in 52.35, and will make her debut in the first race at Hokitika. Another local horse, Kopoturoa, had worked on Wednesday over 800 m at Reefton and was timed at 535. He would come into strong consideration on a wet track.
