Softball tournament
Canterbury won both its matches in the annual triangular men’s softball tournament with Otago and South Canterbury at Timaru yesterday.
fn its first match, Canterbury won, 2-0, against South Canterbury. The runs came from impressive hitting and strong base running by Paul Shannon.
Runs came at a steady rate in the second match, which
Canterbury won, 9-2, over Otago. Canterbury had notched three runs after two innings, was 7-0 ahead going into the sixth innings and on two occasions batted right through its order in an innings.
Most impressive performances in the batters box came from the veteran, Ray Marsh, with four hits from five turns, and the youngest player, Brett Seaward, of Suburbs, with two hits.
