Turner fifth in P.G.A.
NZPA-AAP Warrnambool, Victoria A former Australian amateur champion, Wayne Smith, won the $127,000 Victorian P.G.A. Championship at Warrnambool Golf Club yesterday. The 25-year-old West Australian collected his first victory as a professional when he fired a final round 70 yesterday to finish 13 under the card on 275.
He won by two strokes from a fellow West Australian, Terry Gale, who shot a three-under-par 69 for a total of 277.
In third place was Ossie Moore, of Queensland, at nine under the card.
A Victorian, lan Stanley, was fourth, eight under par, and Greg Turner, of New Zealand, fifth at seven under.'
Smith collected: $22,900 for his win. , ’
