N.Z. horse wins
The top New Zealand galloper, Waverley Star, boosted his prospects for the rich Japan Cup on November 23 . when he had an easy win by 3y 2 lengths, in the lead-up race, the Fuji Stakes, at the Tokyo Racecourse yesterday.
Waverley Star, after racing in midfield in the $NZ340,000 event, moved up to take the lead on the home turn and went clear for a convincing win.
The Matamata-trained chestnut recorded a smart 1:47.5 for the 1800 m.
