Golf official yet to decide
The non-playing captain of the Canterbury golf team for the last three years, Len McKenzie, is undecided whether he will seek to retain that position next year.
Mr McKenzie and his Canterbury teams have met considerable success in that period, having won the Southland invitational 72-hole teams stroke tournament (commonly regarded as the national teams stroke-play championship) and the South Island inter-provincial event as well as a high percentage of representative fixtures.
The title most sought after, the Government Life national inter-provincial championship, has narrowly eluded Canterbury in the years Mr McKenzie has been the operational head. Cantekhury finished third in 1984, ruKnerup last year and third’this year.
