Refugees rescued

NZPA-Reuter Bangkok

Thai fishermen rescued 43 Vietnamese refugees clinging to a crowded raft after their boat sank in the Gulf of Thailand, the police said yesterday. Some of the refugees — 16 women, 14 men and 13 children — were

swimming alongside the small raft for lack of space when they were found on Wednesday after six days at sea. The refugees from Ho Chi Minh City, (formerly Saigon,) were within 130 km of Bangkok when the Thai fishing boat rescued them.
