Honour for trotting writer
PA Auckland The Auckland Trotting Club will mark the retirement of the “New Zealand Herald’s” chief trotting writer, Mr Pat Naden, at its meeting at Alexandra Park on Friday night. The meeting will be Mr Naden’s last assignment for the newspaper, which he joined as an assistant trotting writer 35 years ago. Four of the races on Friday’s programme will carry names appropriate to the occasion — the Pat Naden Handicap, Wrackler Mobile Pace (Wrackler was a pen name once used by Mr Naden), New Zealand Herald Mobile Pace and Wilson and Horton Mobile Pace. The six clubs which race at Alexandra Park — Auckland, Franklin, Thames, Kumeu, Manukau and Pukekohe — will combine to make a farewell presentation to Mr Naden after the last race.
