Glue-sniffers attack man on Auckland bus

PA Auckland A Mexican television producer had his teeth broken when he would not sniff glue with a group of street kids on an Auckland city bus, according to the police. Roberto Solorzano, aged 25, had two teeth broken and another pushed through his top lip during the confrontation before midnight on Monday. The police say he and his" girlfriend boarded an Auckland Regional Authority bus outside the Civic Theatre. The driver stopped the bus in Symonds Street about 11.30 p.m. and picked up four street kids — two youths and two girls. When the producer would not sniff glue with the kids, one of

them rang the bell to stop the bus. The police alleged a youth then attacked Mr Solorzano, punched him in the mouth and broke his teeth. Mr Solorzano’s girlfriend was scratched round the neck when she tried to intervene. Another female attacker then jumped on Mr Solorzano’s back and kept hitting him, the police said. The group then jumped off the bus and fled. The police later arrested a girl, aged 18, and a youth, aged 16. Both were expected to face charges in court. Mr Solorzano was treated for facial injuries at Auckland Hospital and discharged.
