Torrip Gold in line for success at Greymouth meeting tonight

By G. K. YULE Torrip Gold, a fast finishing third to Crackerash and Gold Row on Monday, should go close to winning the Greymouth Timber Company Handicap at Victoria Park in Greymouth this evening.

Torrip Gold will not be worried by the extra 400 m in what is the first leg of the T.A.B. double and the T.A.B. trifecta race on the second night of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s spring meeting. A member of Colin de Filippi’s team, Torrip Gold has had a fair

amount of racing and his placing on Monday was overdue. Once again he has drawn reasonably and he looks set to break through for a long overdue win.

Micro Mary, a newcomer to this class as a result of a win on Monday in what was her first start for the season, could offer most opposition to Torrip Gold. She was most consistent last season and should extend her useful record in this race.

Saryan, a fair fifth on Monday, Timely Rule, Oh Douglas, Lady Singer and

Scotch On Rocks are others entitled to consideration in a fairly open field.

Princess Halsey and Brown Loch, maiden graduates on the first night of the meeting, should be leading contenders in the Railfreight Handicap, the second leg of the double and first leg of the T.A.B. treble.

Big Chief, Lord Christopher, Ceredel Lady and Blue Fire Countess paced useful races on Monday and they are others expected to add interest to the finish.
