MPI looks overseas
PA Wellington Printing inks and supplies manufacturer Morrison PIM (Holdings), Ltd, is investigating overseas
expansion, particularly in Australia, the chairman, Mr Trevor Beyer, told the company’s annual meeting in Auckland yesterday. He said MPI had undergone a substantial change in its over-all image since last year, with new buildings, repainted older ones and new equipment.’ “The company now has the physical and people resources capable of handling a substantially higher level of sales, both manufactured and traded, than the market can presently support,” he said. “The New Zealand market for our products is now on a slower growth curve than last years and there are additional pressures brought about by imported inks. “However, I am confident of MPl’s ability to compete effectively in the market. “Given its present capacity and strengths the company is investigating the possibility of expansion overseas, particularly in Australia, and I expect to make an announcement in the not too distant future.” Although the coming year presented problems, sales and profit for the first three months exceed the comparable period in 1985.
