Almond celebrates
Bobby Almond celebrated his benefit week-end in an appropriate, if unusual, manner by scoring twice in a feature soccer match between Christchurch United and a southern league select team at Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday.
The match ended in a 3;3 draw and Almond, among the best defenders to have played for New Zealand, played one half for each team. Both his goals came in the second half, for the southern league side against his national league team-mates.
