Footrot Flats premieres to benefit charities

Charity and community groups will benefit from premieres of the “Footrot Flats” movie, which is due for New Zealand release in December. The co-producer of “Footrot Flats — The Dog’s Tale,” John Barnett, said premieres would be held simultaneously at 20 theatres throughout New Zealand on December 11. He said groups wishing to take advantage of the opportunity should approach the manager of their local Kerridge Odeon cinema. The producers wanted to benefit groups that had helped people and had strong links with

their local community. Mr Barnett said that while final approval of each charity would rest with the producers, they would be looking to the local theatre manager for advice. “Footrot Flats — The Dog’s Tale” is New Zealand’s first full-length animated feature film. It is directed by Murray Ball, the creator of the Footrot Flats cartoon strip, and written by Ball and the columnist and cartoonist, Tom Scott. A number of familiar New Zealand voices will be heard in the film, including those of John Clarke, of Fred Dagg fame, and Billy T. James.
