Careless speedboater
PA Auckland A guillotine operator who cut a swathe through a yacht race in his speedboat was fined $l5O when he appeared for sentence in the District Court at Auckland. Stephen John Goodall, aged 22, of Castor Bay, had earlier admitted carelessly using a speedboat on September 7. Goodall had disrupted a yacht race and sped round the wharves with a water-skier in tow, the Court was told. A Coastguard boat pur-
sued him across the harbour and he had ignored a loud-hailer request to stop.
Goodall had narrowly missed a yacht when his skier fell off, and had then driven through a
yacht race. He had been towing a friend on a fibreglass ski-board and was eventually caught by a police patrol at Birkenhead Wharf.
Judge Maclean fined the defendant $l5O.
