The Mathematics and Statistics Department is a service department providing the mathematics and applied statistics content of the professional courses offered by the University. These courses range from Agriculture and Forestry, Chemical Technology, to branches of Engineering, Architecture and Surveying and also Accountancy and Business Studies. The courses taught by the department are largely at ordinary degree and preliminary level in Mathematical methods. Additionally the department runs a post-graduate diploma in Engineering Mathematics. Its objective is to provide the necessary mathematical training for engineering graduates prior to their moving to study in overseas Universities. The full time academic staff establishment of the department in addition to the Professor consists of six senior lecturers and ten lecturers and two assistant lecturers. The members of the Department retain their research Interests, at present in various areas of pure mathematics, theoretical physics, numerical analysis, computing and applied statistics. In addition there is strong interest in Mathematics Education including assisting the work of the local schools at all levels. LECTURESHIPS (Two Vacancies) Applicants must be appropriately qualified and should have a demonstrated teaching and research ability within the subject areas specified above. DEPARTMENT OF SURVEYING AND LAND STUDIES PROFESSOR AND HEAD OF DEPARTMENT Applicants'must have high academic qualifications and should have significant experience in a profession, tertiary institutions and research. Applicants may be from any area of Surveying Cartography or Land Management. The successful applicant will be the head of a department comprising fifteen teaching staff and eight support staff. Courses are conducted in Surveying, Cartography and Land Management at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Professional and/or teaching in a developing country would be an advantage. The appointee will be expected to provide leadership in teaching and research and be involved in university administrative and professional activities. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR The Department offers undergraduate studies to diploma level in Surveying Drafting and Surveying and to degree level in Cartography, Land Management and Surveying. Post graduate courses in Land Studies are also offered. Applicants will be required to hold a post graduate qualification in Surveying with professional and tertiary education experience. Applicants may have specialised In any branch of Surveying but professional and/or teaching in a developing country would be an advantage. OFFICE OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR COMPUTER CENTRE MANAGER Applications are invited for the position of Manager, Computer Centre, to be responsible for the Administration, Financial Management and Staffing of the Computer Centre, as well as the provision and promotion of Computing facilities and services for The University’s teaching research and administration functions. Applicants must have a minimum of seven years experience as a Computer Professional, preferably at a tertiary education institution, and a sound knowledge of computing, covering hardware, software and application areas.
