Striker to move
PA Wellington The National Mutual Miramar soccer striker, Greg Brown, will move to Australia. Brown has signed a oneyear contract, with the option for a further season, with the south Sydney Club Melita Eagles, which play in the New South Wales first division. A representative of the Australian club visited Wellington to discuss terms with Brown, who scored 15 goals in the national league for Miramar last season. The striker was impressed with what he heard and signed for Eagles, in spite of the offer of another contract from Miramar. “The set-up at Eagles
seems fantastic,” Brown said. “I like a fresh challenge each season. I have also been keen to play in Australia and this is my chance.”
Brown will move to Australia about Christmas, but before that he will get the chance to sample Australian soccer when he crosses the Tasman with the New Zealand team at the end of the month for a match against the Socceroos. Brown is in the All Whites squad for the two-match series against Australia and he hopes to continue playing for New Zealand. Brown, born in Manchester, will qualify for New Zealand citizenship next February when he marries.
