Stained glass windows
The stained glass window panels on the Gloucester Street frontage of the Palladium nightclub were designed and crafted by Gordon Wright, a Christchurch glass craftsman.
Gordon worked closely with Hampton Interiors, the designers of the nightclub’s interior, to come up with a design which would complement the art deco style of the nightclub and work with its colour scheme.
He also had to take into account the relationship of the windows to the building’s exterior, and the need to enhance the appearance of the nightclub from the street. The 14 window panels, in bands of white, grey and black, contain imported hand-blown glass from Germany, England and France, as well as solar cool glass.
