Talks to boost tourism
Six • hundred travel agents/travel writers and others in tourism will attend one of the biggest tourist. industry conventions to be held in the South Island beginning in Christchurch on Thursday and continuing for three days. The convention has been organised by the Travel Agents’ Association in conjunction with a Christchurch-based organising committee. The intention of the convention is to increase awareness of the facilities and attractions offered by Christchurch and Canterbury. The 600 delegates, from New Zealand and Australia, will hear keynote speeches in the Christchurch Town Hall, and visit some of the tourist attractions in the region.
