Y.M.C.A. offers courses for kids
A circus course and a "short tennis” programme are two new classes now offered by the Y.M.C.A. in Christchurch. “Short tennis” offers children the chance to learn the skills and techniques of tennis at a very young age. Using a light plastic racquet and
slower, foam tennis-balls, on a badminton-size court, children are taught how to play tennis over 10 weeks. L Introduced to New Zealand by a tennis professional, David . Mustard, “short tennis”, is proving popular with young children in New Zealand. 1
The Y.M.C.A. offers “short tennis” courses at its city and Bryndwr branches. ' The circus course has acrobatics, clown techniques, role bola, juggling, rope walking, unicycling, and magic techniques which are taught by Marcel Pouplier. Although he
is German-born, he learnt his skills in a circus school in France. After roadshows in Germany he is now performing and teaching circus skills while travelling around the world. Classes have started at the Y.M.C.A. and will con-J tinue until December.
