Erebus hearing
PA Auckland The $32 million action over the Air New Zealand DCIO crash on Mount Erebus will begin in Auckland today. The families of 16 of the crew who died in the crash in November, 1979, are suing the United States Government.
They allege that American radar at McMurdo Station should have alerted the pilot that he was off course.
Depositions will be taken from 19 witnesses at the hearing, which is expected to take a week. A three-day hearing in Christchurch will follow.
