Search for the ‘best dressed man of the year’ is on again

Men’s Fashion Focus ’B6 is looking for the best dressed man of the year, and Christchurch men will be scrutinised for good dressing this Friday, at the Cashel Street Mall between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The main aim of the focus is to highlight men’s clothing manufactured in New Zealand, and to encourage New Zealand men to wear them. A professional photographer, Mr Chris Kaatland, will be taking photographs of potential prizewinners for Men’s Fashion Focus in the Cashel Street Mall, and the four best men from four categories will Ra nrACP nf a H with

$lOO worth of fashion clothing. These winners will be picked from the photographs. The different categories include the “best dressed man about town,” which is for the tailored look of a business executive. This category highlights smart dressing in a suit and tie, reefer jacket, or sports coat and trousers. The second category is the “best dressed man at leisure,” which looks for the dressy, casual look. the third category is the "best dressed active man at leisure” which emphasises jeans, trackpants, tee-shirts and carao iek 4

Finally, there is the “best dressed man —- the trend-setter.” This is where the innovative dresser comes into his own. This section emphasizes the man who has really developed his own style of dressing — something original. Men’s Fashion Focus ’B6 is not restricted only to those lucky enough to be caught on film this Friday, but also takes in photographs submitted by friends, parents, or other members of the family. Photographs are not judged on photography skills,, but on the clothes worn by the subject. These can be submitted to any official “Men’s 1

Fashion Focus” store. These stores are easily identified by shop displays with the Men’s Fashion Focus logo. The competition has been changed to include four different category national winners rather than just one. Many felt that restricting the title of “best dressed man” to a man in a suit, was unfair to those who wore fashionable casual-wear. For this reason, organisers have tried to include those wearing the most conservative suits, to the more creative original look, and meeting both extremes of the scale. The focus is held nationally to search for

New Zealand’s four bestdressed men, and secondly, as a nationwide in-store draw and fashion promotion. This is designed to get the public more involved in the focus.

Judging for the four national category winners takes place on Wednesday, October 29. The presentation of prizes to winners will be in the first week of November — each winner receiving $lOOO worth of men’s fashion clothing.

During the two weeks of promotion, participating stores will be giving away entry forms for instore prize draws. The first name drawn will win menswear to the value of $lOO from that store. That person’s name then goes into the national draw for a chance to win a further $lOOO of men’s clothing.
